Model LGEN-P Gravity Filter
The Filtertech Model LGEN-P, Deep Bed Filter System provides an effective means for clarifying the coolants use for optical lens generating. Our unique system uses one device to remove the large, bulky strings of solids as well as extremely fine particulate apparent in today’s lens generating operation. A single discharge point allows all the removed solids to be neatly collected in a hopper located at the discharge end of the filter. The use of a deep liquid pool allows a high pressure differential across the media allowing higher filtration rates and low filter media consumption.
Mode of Operation
The dirty liquid to be clarified is either pumped or flows by gravity to the bed of the filter. A layer of disposable filter media is positioned within the filter and is supported by a flat wire conveyor belt. The bulky solids accumulate on the surface of the media to create an effective filter cake which allows the extremely fine particulate to also be removed.
Over time, the filter cake becomes thicker and more dense such that the filtrate rate through the media decreases causing the level in the liquid pool to rise. This is sensed by a laser level control sensor which signals the drive to index the collected solids out of the filter in short increments while also introducing fresh media. The liquid level drops whereby indexing is stopped, thus, providing for on demand complete automatic operation.
The filter includes Filtertech’s patented labyrinth type positive side seal design which creates a double side seal to prevent migration of solids around the edge of the filter media.
To help prevent the roll of filter media from running out, the Model LGEN-P is equipped with an end-of-media sensor which senses when the media roll is almost depleted and annunciates an alarm condition on the filter control panel.
